On The Very Concept of Speculative

Kurgul Kavramı Üzerine

Without any doubt, the concept 'speculative' is central to Hegel's system of logic. Hegel says in the Preface to the first edition to Science of Logic that “the science of logic constitutes the metaphysics proper or purely speculative philosophy”.¹ He refers to his philosophical method as speculative method, his concept of concept as the speculative concept and his philosophical system as speculative philosophy. Hence, a clarification of this very central concept is critical for an appreciation of Hegel's overall project and and his 'Science of Logic'.

On the other hand, today the word 'speculative' has almost exclusively negative and pejorative significance in philosophical circles as well as in its everyday usage. The specific meaning in which Hegel used the word is almost totally lost. This  phenomenon, the loss of the positive significance of the word 'speculative', has a historical and cultural signficance that goes deeper and beyond the fact that Hegel's thought has been out of fashion throughout 20th Century.

My presentation will focus on a discussion of Hegel's concept of 'speculative'. I will provide a brief  explication of Hegel's use of 'speculative' and argue that the concept bears a fundamentally important philosophical insight that makes it relevant for our contemporary philosophical and cultural issues.         

Hiç şüphesiz 'kurgul' kavramı Hegel'in mantık sistemi açısından merkezi önemdedir. Hegel Mantık Bilimi'nin ilk baskısına yazdığı önsözde “mantık bilimi gerçek anlamda metafiziği ya da saf kurgul felsefeyi oluşturur” der.¹ Ayrıca Hegel felsefi yöntemi için kurgul yöntem, kavram kavramı için kurgul kavram ve felsefi sistemi için de kurgul felsefe ifadelerini kullanır. Bu nedenle, 'kurgul' kavramının net olarak anlaşılması Hegel'in genel sisteminin ve Mantık Bilimi'nin anlaşılmasında kritik önemdedir.

Öte yandan, bugün 'kurgul' kelimesi hem felsefi hem de gündelik kullanımında neredeyse tümüyle olumsuz bir anlamda kullanılmaktadır. Kelimenin Hegel'in kullanmış olduğu anlamı kaybolmaya yüz tutmuştur. 'Kurgul' kelimesinin olumlu anlamının kaybolması olgusu Hegel düşüncesinin 20. yüzyılda 'moda' olmamasını aşan tarihsel ve kültürel bir anlam taşır.

Sunumum Hegel'in 'kurgul' kavramının tartışılmasına yoğunlaşacak. Hegel'in 'kurgul' kavramının kısa bir açıklamasını verirken bir yandan da kavramın günümüz felsefi ve kültürel sorunları açısından son derece ilgili ve felsefi olarak temel önemde bir içgörüyü içermekte olduğunu savunacağım.
